Confidence and Better Communication

In January of 2018, my wife was diagnosed with cerebellar ataxia, which affects all aspects of functioning, including her speech.  I contacted several Speech Therapists/Pathologists who declined taking my wife on, as a client. After some time, info on Cecilia’s new private practice came up in a Google search.  Initially, Cecilia was uncertain if she would be able to help my wife as a client, but Cecilia called me back and agreed to do an assessment. The assessment led to four weeks of four sessions/week of LSVT-Loud.

Cecilia put in a lot of additional time with my wife (and me). Since completing LSVT-Loud, my wife has made more effort speaking, exhibited more confidence in conversing with others, and been more willing to be out in public. People are now better to able to understand her which was a significant problem for years. She continues to practice, using the LSVT-Loud protocols to maintain and improve her speech.

Swallowing Safety and Communication

When my husband, who had frontotemporal dementia, began to choke on many of the foods he had previously been able to eat, we were blessed to be referred to Cecilia Wisbrun. She, as a speech therapist, was able to teach me methods of feeding my husband to greatly relieve the choking problem. She also used Ampcare Effective Swallowing Protocol to improve my husband’s ability to swallow foods.  She also had many ideas and materials to help his decline in cognition and prolong the time he had with me and our family to be interactive in a positive way. I feel Cecilia’s wonderful attitude and support helped me immensely as a caregiver and my husband, as a recipient of her care. I highly recommend her.

Word Finding and Swallowing

A few years ago I had a stroke. I received tons of amazing medical care, but the one that came to my home to help me with my speech was Cecilia! This is a gentle lady but makes sure you were progressing. She was incredible!  She took her time and did not rush me and was very professional. I felt very comfortable and wasn’t raced in doing these exercises to help me recover my word finding. Cecilia also helped me with my swallowing. Cecilia is very sincere and compassionate and takes her occupation serious. Respectful and friendly towards my family. My daughter really enjoyed watching her work with me which helped her understand me better during this time and to help me along with what she learned. I couldn’t begin to thank her enough!
